TurkanaDuffalo™ Duffel Bag
We had to rethink the classic duffel. Our experience over the years with the “old-style” duffel had to undergo an update to be more durable, tough, and usable for motorcycle touring and other dual-sport adventure use.
The Turkana Duffalo™ duffel bag features a universal style with a wide mouth design, accommodating most motorcycles, 4x4s, and kayaks for travel. It features vital characteristics that enhance usability.

Without a doubt, a wide-mouth bag is incredibly user-friendly! You can effortlessly pack and unpack without throwing out everything to get to Teddy (who is always hiding at the bottom). The wide opening is ideal for carrying large things, such as a circus tent garage.
The light-coloured removable waterproof liner and our colour-coded pack cubes make it simple to find what you’re looking for, and packing is a breeze!
The rolltop closure ensures the bag is 100% dustproof and waterproof with an IP67 rating that withstands quick submersions in water, good for any adventure motorcycle expedition.
Tough as nails outer layer, check!
The outer layer is made from strong Rhinocote™ fabric, which can take a lot of abuse and has high tear, chafing, and abrasion resistance. Round the world, motorbike riders understand the need for strong, tough materials.
With this fabric as the first level of protection, it allowed us to add usable tie-down points, which are not always found on PVC/TPU duffel bags. To add more redundancy, we also padded the bottom layer for more protection, to prevent chafing and abrasion from damaging the inside layer and to be kind to the motorcycle paintwork and bodywork.
Water and dustproof inner liner, check!
The second layer consists of a waterproof inner liner that fits inside the Duffalo™ and secures the opening rim of the duffel with hook & loop (that stuff that makes the tearing sounds).
The inside is a light colour to allow you to see the contents easier. The liner is removable, so the Moto Adventure duffel bag can be used with or without the liner. Water might still gather between the liner and the outer bag, but it will not penetrate the inner liner.
If the worst should happen and the inner liner does get damaged. It can simply be replaced without the need to replace the entire bag.
Carry Straps: Doubles as Backpack and Shoulder Straps, Check!
We decided to get rid of the shoulder strap (that one never uses!) and created adjustable carry handles, doubling as shoulder straps when the need arises to use the duffel as a backpack.
Triple Layer Design
The kryptonite of all the PU/PVC type duffels is that they get holes and eventually tears (and Duck Tape only lasts so long!). Abrasion, continuous shaving, and sharp objects have a way to damage those bags, so we decided to go with an inner liner, as we believe a dual-layer is a must.
If your outer bags tear, you can easily repair them, and your inner bag will continue to protect your valuables from dust and water. If you tear the inner bag, you can repair it temporarily and replace it easily. Why throw away a bag just because the fabric that is supposed to keep it water- and dustproof can’t deal with hair-raising motorbike dual-sport or daily adventures?
The additional inner padded bottom layer, check!
Sandwiched between the outer layer of skin and the inner waterproof/dustproof dry bag is a padded protective layer. This protective layer is designed to offer additional protection against vibration and chafing.
Riding rough enduro-type offroad tracks or teeth-rattling backcountry dirt roads, vibration and chafing in many cases will cause holes in any fabric. T
The triple layer minimises holes and protects content and valuables, and should a hole appear, the soft luggage motorcycle duffel bag can still be used as intended.
Field repairable, check!
When you have a yard sale on a tiny dirt road (on your way to climbing Mount Jebel Toubkal in the Moroccan Atlas mountains), the Duffalo™ motorbike duffel bag is field repairable.
All our Turkana Gear motorcycle soft luggage products can be repaired with basic sewing kits or dental floss and a multitool. Buckles and webbing are standard sizes across the world and easy to find and replace.
